Our Story
Nicola Henseler, our initiator, started to think more about sustainability after her first parental leave and wrote down her learnings in a blog. This blog was founded in May 2017 and was already called Fairnica at the time. She became more and more interested in the topic of fair fashion and learned that our purchasing behavior has a major impact on our personal ecological footprint. We often hear that we have no influence on the climate crisis, but we do have an influence on our purchasing decisions and so it is our responsibility to deal with it consciously. Nicola started looking for alternative models to buy and couldn't find anything that met her expectations 100%, so she decided to write a concept. She told friends and family about it and after a few months Lara, Bali, Tommy, Steve and Lissy joined.

About a year later in spring 2018, we as Fairnica took part in the Senkrechtstarter start-up competition with our rental concept and won 4th place and the special prize for sustainability, awarded by GLS Bank. We received a small amount of start-up capital with which we could start a pilot project. We were able to convince fashion designer and blogger Bina Nöhr to support our idea of styling the first capsule. The pilot phase started in October 2018 and within a few days all the capsules were fully booked. After this success, we decided to set up a GmbH at the beginning of 2019. The team reorganized somewhat.
